Social justice art is considered to be artwork involving activism, community, public art, and incorporation of topics of social change, multiculturalism, and cultural change (Dewhurst,2010). This unit was developed as a way of teaching social justice through instigating discussions and critical thinking about society and the art around us.
The curriculum unit I have developed centers on discussion of past, present, and future representations in art history and the media. In the unit, I integrated several discussions, group collaboration, and three critical thinking lessons that allow students to explore their personal histories, identities, and the conveyed messages in art and media that we see every day.

it is included to provide an example of a project that a student would make from my curriculum unit.
